Week 16 and oh so fun weekend!

Well here we are at week 16. Time sure is flying by! Here is a glimpse at what our little monkey is up to this week:

Baby's now the size of an avocado! Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

At any time, you will begin to feel fetal movement as your baby's bones harden, and she starts a big growth spurt. Your baby has plenty of room: At this point, she could fit in the palm of your hand. This is a great time to be a fetus. At any given time, she might be playing with the umbilical cord (which she's now able to grasp), putting her thumb in her mouth, or kicking at the amniotic sac.

Wow, so many new developments! Guess we will be able to start talking to the little girl/guy. We went to the doctor this past week for our 4 week check-up. We were able to hear the strong heartbeat, which never gets old, and we were told that October 21st will be the big day to determine whether we will be having a boy or a girl! I don't think that day can get here soon enough!!

Carl and I had a busy but awesome weekend! Friday night Carl took my mom and I out to eat some seafood which I was badly craving! On Saturday we had such an eventful day. It started out with a baby shower followed by a birthday party for one of my best friend Kelly's nephew. It was so great to see her, her husband and her family! It was a lot of fun and we had plenty of goodies to eat while we were there ;) After the party we headed out to Carl's Uncle Michael's house for some awesome grilled chicken and duck! We had the oppurtunity to spend some time with Adam, Jessica, Wendy, Joe, Erin, Uncle Michael and all the precious kiddos. We got home home pretty late and we were exhausted. All I remember was taking a shower and then crashing in my comfy bed ;) It was a busy day but it was worth it!

Today Carl and I had the oppurtunity to visit with another one of my best friends who was also in town for the weekend. Traci and Matt! We went and had lunch with them at Jason's Deli and got to catch up on all the excitement that is going on in their lives right now! They are engaged and I couldn't be more happy for two people. I love them both so much!!

So all in all it was a weekend full of family and friends which is always great!! We are so thankful to be blessed in so many ways.

Finally I have posted some preggo pics. I never think to take pictures when I am actually dressed up so here are some "reality" pics ;) Hope everyone has a great and joy filled week!!

Week 15

So the weeks are just passing by and here we are at week 15! Here's what our precious little baby is up to this week:

Baby's now the size of a naval orange! Continuing the march toward normal proportions, baby's legs now out-measure his arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably can't feel the movements just yet.

So baby schinde is apparently having a ball in the womb ;) I can't wait to feel the little guy/girl moving around in there. Luckily things have been getting a lot better for momma! I have been feeling so much better all around!

Carl and I can't wait to find out what we're having. We have even tried a few old wives tales to see what we came up with. So far results have been inconclusive. The next thing we are going to try is something I read about in a magazine called "inteligender". I checked it out at walgreens one day and it was 30.00 so I thought twice about spending the money on something I wasnt sure about. However, Jessica told me she saw on the show "The Doctors" that they claim that it is 90% accurate, about as accurate as an ultrasound! So thanks to Dad and Ginger who were curious enough to know what the results are, we will be trying it very soon! We'll see what happens and in about a month we will see if it is really accurate.

This weekend was fun and relaxing for us. I had an early morning friday when I took my mom and grandmother to the airport to go to Cali. They treated me to breakfast as a nice treat :) Michelle bought me lunch for my birthday and brought me some yummy cupcakes from Crave. Dinner was out as well, we went to Gringos and then Carl took me to see "love happens". It was a great movie! Just dont forget the tissues ladies....or it could just be my hormones...hmmm ;) Saturday was not too action packed, but it was great to kick back and relax with each other. Today after church Carl and I went and had lunch with my fam and watched the Texans game. Now it's time for us to unwind and relax....I seem to be doing a lot of that lately;) I think its going to be a Quiznos kinda night!

Well we hope everyone had a great weekend and hope everyone has a great and joy-filled week! We will update again soon...

Week 14 and more cheese please...

Wow. Week 14 is here already! Time is surely flying by. As always here's a little summary of what our little lemon is up to this week:

Baby's now the size of a lemon! Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over her body for warmth.

Carl thought it was really gross that our baby is now peeing inside of the sac. Hehe. It is amazing how our little baby grows and develops more and more every week. On the down side I have still been fighting off this nasty cold! It is getting better everyday but is still lingering around. I hope to start week 15 off as well as possible!!

So lately, cheese has been my topping of choice. I have been eating cheese with everything! This is really out of the norm for me because I normally do not favor cheese very much. So as long as it has cheese on it I will eat it ;)

Carl and I had a pretty good weekend. Not too eventful but restful, which was just what I needed. This morning Carl and I went to church and had lunch with my mom, sister and nephew. My nephew Blake spent the weekend with my mom and we had the oppurtunity to spend some time with him as well. He is so quick and spunky and cracks us up! And tonight we had my grandparents over for dinner to celebrate grandparents day! So it was a good weekend overall. Now it is time to wind down and rest up for the upcoming week.

In closing I would like to end with two important things we learned in church today: Always remember that God is in control and God cares. So no matter what you may go through this week or any other time...remember those two things. Hope everyone has a great week!!

Shaq in Baytown, Texas

So my sister ran into Shaquile O'Neill in Baytown this morning at McDonalds. She said she asked him what he was doing in Baytown and he said he was just passing through. He stopped at McDonald's to get a sprite. He was sitting on the tailgate of his truck in the parking lot. He asked her who was in the car with her and she said "my son" and she asked if he would take a picture with Blake and he said "yea bring him out". So I had to post this picture because I just thought this was so random! Enjoy!

09.09.09

Thanks Aunt Janelle!

09.09.09 was the day of my 26th birthday! What a cool date :) It was a great day. I woke up and went outside to find a Happy Birthday sign outside my door, courtesy of Aunt Janelle! I also had many phone calls, emails and facebook messages all day. I have such great family and friends.

Last night Carl took me out to HB Japanese Steakhouse. It was delicious and baby schindewolf definitely enjoyed it ;) Carl also left work early yesterday to drive to a bakery in Bellaire to pick up some petit fours that I am obsessed with! I had them once before and have not been able to stop thinking about them. My wonderful hubby went and got me some! Don't worry I have posted a pic so that all can see the deliciousness!

My yummy petit fours ;)

I have still been fighting off this nasty cold! My Doc was able to prescribe me something that will hopefully help to clear this up. Poor baby schinde is probably sick of me coughing all the time, I'm sure he/she would like to get some rest ;)

Today I am off to have lunch with Jessica and Joshua. They are making us some homemade pizza...yum!

Ok, just wanted to update on my happy happy birthday and thank all for the messages, calls, cards and emails...you all made my day special! I will update again soon! Hope everyone is having a great week!! :)

Fun Birthday Weekend!

We had another awesome weekend, especially today! Friday wasn't so great...I was still feeling a little under the weather so Friday night consisted of laying on the couch, sipping hot tea and watching movies. Saturday I woke up feeling a little better so mom, sis and I went to see "All about Steve" which was a cute movie. Saturday night Carl and I went to his aunt's house for a fun family gathering where we had the oppurtunity to see his cousins, aunts, uncles and a bunch of new babies:) It was a lot of fun.

Today was the icing on the cake. My family, Carl & I all got together for an early celebration of my birthday. We kicked the day off at church followed by a delicious birthday lunch at Chuy's. Then it was off to main event for some fun family bowling, laser tag and games! To top off an already great day we went to the cheesecake factory for birthday dessert! By this time baby schinde wasn't feeling dessert but instead was already hungry for dinner! So my birthday dessert consisted of a grilled chicken sandwich with avacados and the best strawberry lemonade ever! My sister, brother-in-law, nephews, mom and carl all enjoyed various forms of yummy cheesecake and coffee. Baby Jake even got his hands into some whipped cream courtesy of uncle carl ;) I am so blessed to have such a wonderful and supportive family! I love you all very much and thank you all for such a wonderful day!!

Dad and Ginger were generous enough to give me some gift cards to do some much needed mom-to-be shopping. Kelly, Blake and the boys bought me a cute maternity shirt and mom has stocked me up on some maternity clothes as well! Boy do they know what I need ;) How blessed I am indeed!

I have posted some pics from our fun-filled day. Hope you all enjoy and be sure to read below about week 13 and what our precious little monkey is up to this week!! Hope you all had a fabulous labor day weekend and I wish you all a joy-filled week!

Week 13

Well we are officially in our second trimester! And the best news of all is that I am starting to feel completely better, cold and all! As usual here is what our precious little monkey is up to this week:

Baby's now the size of a peach! Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords...savor this, their nonfunctional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third the size of his body. And intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy -- much more convenient.

I also read that baby's fingerprints have developed! What a miracle our little peach is! We just feel so blessed. Carl has even been hard at work on baby schinde's room. We are happy as can be! Looking forward to much more energy and feeling better!!

Not feeling so great...

Well I am happy to report that for the most part my nausea is gone! I still have a few bouts every now and then but I am eating more regularly now. However, the day I proclaim to Carl that I am starting to feel better is the night that I go to bed and wake up with a very sore throat! It kept me up all night Monday and all I could do to ease the pain was drink warm liquids. My days of taking ny-quil and going to sleep when I feel bad are over!! It is now Wednesday and I am still feeling as bad as ever. I have been able to sleep a little bit better but am extremely congested. Poor baby schinde is being tossled around every time I cough ;) My dear sweet mom made me some homemade chicken soup last night that I am living off of. So am I feeling better? Yes, but now feeling bad in other ways :(

At least my birthday week starts today! For those of you who know me and my family we celebrate birthday weeks...basically meaning that we get to be bossy for a week and have an excuse ;) Carl really loves my birthday week...hehe.

Well I have babbled on enough! Just wanted to update the preggo experience. Hope everyone is having a great week...you're halfway through!

Also, please keep Carl's mom in your prayers...life has handed her a few lemons and we are working on making some lemonade ;)

Blessings,
traci & baby schinde
