Houston, We have a walker!

We have had a pretty BIG week! Things have been going really well with tucker. We still don't have all the answers, but he is improving every day and we know God is working on him:) He hasn't had to use his feeding tube in over a month and has been eating really well and gaining weight! So today, I packed up the feeding pump and such and am getting ready to send it back! It felt so good to do it. I remember coming home from the hospital back in march, having to learn to use it, and having to hook my baby up to it every night. I can remember feeling such a feeling of dread and fear and thinking of the day we would get to send it back. Well that day has come! We are going to leave his button in his belly for now. We still use it to give him all his meds, which is super helpful, and the doctors don't want to remove it until we have some more answers, just in case. We are hopeful we will never have to see that machine again:) As if this day couldn't get any better, our big boy decided it was time to start walking!!! He has been walking with his walker and taking steps for months now, but is so cautious and nervous that he just wouldn't let go. Carl and I kept thinking if he would just let go he could do it! Yesterday our physical therapist was here and watched him. She took the walker away and barely held on to his shirt, so he felt someone was "helping" him, and he was off and walking everywhere! It was pretty funny! So we haven't had the walker out and have been encouraging him to walk around. He did pretty good today, but tonight he really took off! We actually went out to dinner then stopped at kohls to get a few things. Tucker insisted on getting down and off he went! Carl and I were thrilled!! He and tripp just ran around the aisles. I didn't even care, I was just so happy!! It has been a long time coming, poor guy has been through so much and has come a long way! We are truly blessed!!

We also went to the zoo today! It was the boy's first time and it was "boo at the zoo". Our wonderfully awesome coach came along with us too! Thank God he did!! He was super helpful and the boys love their coach! We really wish carl could have come, but since he has to take off next week for tucker's iron infusion he couldn't take off today:( Anyways, it was so much fun! Tucker was quite the pill in the beginning but got better as the day went on. They enjoyed seeing all the animals, riding the carousel, participating in the Halloween activities and most of all taking a ride on the train through Hermann park. It was a great day!!

Here are some pictures:)

I've said it once and I'll say it a million more times, we are blessed beyond belief! We have been through some pretty yucky stuff (to put it mildly) but God always provides and is consistently loving and faithful. We still have quite a road ahead of us, but we are hopeful! Please continue to pray for tucker, please pray we will get some answers soon! Tucker will have another iron infusion done next week. Hopefully we will be able to wait a couple more months before the next one. Thank you all for your love and support! Hope all have a wonderful weekend!! What a wonderful day!!

Pumpkin Patch 2013

Today we continued our tradition of heading to the pumpkin patch to kick off the fall! We had originally planned to go on opening day, which was Saturday, however we knew the weather was going to be much cooler today so we waited. I'm so glad we did! It felt amazing outside!! The boys had a blast and we attempted to get a few cute pics. After we left the patch we headed home for lunch, put the boys down for nap and I headed out for a nice long run enjoying the beautiful weather!! This evening, I made a big pot of turkey chili and some banana pudding. Coach and aunt Janelle came over and joined us for dinner. Now it's relaxation time and watching our texans!! It was a great fall weekend! Here are some of the pictures I took.

So incredibly blessed!!
Thanks for stopping by:) Hope all had a great weekend as well and enjoy this wonderful weather!! No big appointments for tucker this week, other than our usual therapies. I will update when I get any new info. Thanks again for all your prayers!

Another update...

We had our visit with the hematologist yesterday. The good news is his hemoglobin levels were up to almost a normal level, which is huge for him, the not so great news is that he has to have another iron infusion in 4 weeks. Although, after that infusion the doctor wants to wait it out a bit longer before checking to see when he will need another. So the good news in that is that we will likely be able to enjoy the holidays without any iron infusions! I guess one thing I've learned is there is always a silver lining:)

While we were there we also had his height and weight checked. He has actually gained some weight since we stopped feeding him through his tube and grown a bit in length! Our GI doc called me yesterday and said she was very happy with his growth process. So no more tube feeding for hopefully ever! The button will stay in for a while until we know more about what's going on. In the mean time our days are filled with therapies for tucker, speech for Tripp, school, specialist appointments and routine doctor visits. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed but I am thankful for the wonderful people placed in our path to help my boys and the progress each has been making:) I cannot say it enough, God is good:)

I am looking forward to a fun filled family weekend, complete with our annual trip to the pumpkin patch:) bring on the fall festivities!!

Thanks for stopping by:) please keep us in your prayers:)

This morning we made a trip to rj goodies and the boys may have had a sweet treat for breakfast;) shhhh, don't tell!!

Our path

We have been on a path for quite some time now with tucker. It's more of a winding road with lots of bumps and steep hills, but a path none the less. A path that has been blessed by our faithful father. I was thinking today of all the blessings that have occurred on this road and all of the wonderful people we have connected with, that we may not otherwise have. Even though it has been tough, I know there is a reason and I feel blessed to have met so many wonderful people who are praying for us and we them. I felt compelled to share this with you all. God is really working on my heart and opening my eyes, even when I'm at my lowest and don't think I withstand anymore, He has a gentle way of lifting me back up. I have no doubt Susie is up there helping out;) I guess I would encourage all of you to be grateful and thank God for all the blessings in your life, even the ones that came the hard way;)

Please continue to pray for tucker and our family. We go back to our hematologist tomorrow and find out if/when another iron infusion will be necessary. We will also get a weight check and as long as he has maintained his weight the last few weeks we can keep him off of tube feeding. Thanks again prayer warriors and I will update after our appointment tomorrow:)

I will leave you with a few pics:)
