Family, Friends and Fun!
This past weekend was filled with family, friends and lots of fun! Friday night we had some great friends over for dinner. It was a beautiful night so we spent most of the time hanging out outside and watching all our little boys play. It was a great night. Saturday we traveled to baytown to watch my nephew blake's baseball game. We had a lot of fun and were able to spend some time with my sister, nephews and brother-in-law. Later that night we went over and had dinner with carl's parents. Tripp of course loved being spoiled by grammy and coach:) We rounded out the weekend by spending the day running errands, bike riding and even stopping by to visit yaya! So like I said, it was a fun weekend full of family and friends:) Enjoy the pictures.

Handsome Lil' Devil
Yesterday we went to get pictures made with cousin kate to give to grammy for her birthday. I got tripp all spruced up for his photo and he looked precious!! The photo shoot was a hoot! We could not get the two busy bodies to sit or even stand in the same spot at the same time! It was a circus, but oh so fun. We did manage to get a few pictures of the two and a few cute pictures of tripp for his 1 year:) Later in the day we got to baby-sit kate. Tripp had a blast with his cousin and boy did they keep this mama busy! It was a super fun thursday:)
Tripp has been super active these days. He is into everything and climbing on everything!! He has even learned to climg on top of the dryer door and tries to climb inside! So now I have to wait to fold clothes until he's napping. He keeps me busy, that's for sure....but it's a blast and I wouldn't change a thing! I will end this lil post with some recent pictures...enjoy!

I took his hand and followed...
My mother-in-law recently gave me a framed poem that makes me tear up everytime I read it. It is geared towards mommys with little boys, love it! I wanted to share it:
I took his hand and followed
My dishes went unwashed today
I didn't make the bed,
I took his hand and followed
where his eager footsteps led.
oh yes we went adventuring,
my little son and I,
exploring all the great outdoors
beneath the summer sky.
we waded in a crystal stream,
we wandered through a wood;
my kitchen wasn't swept today
but life was gay and good.
we found a cool, sun-dappled glade
and now my small son knows
how mother bunny hides her nest,
where jack-in-the-pulpit grows.
We watched a robin feed her young,
we climbed a sunlit hill,
saw cloud-sheep scamper through the sky,
we plucked a daffodil.
that my house was neglected,
that I didn't brush the stairs,
in twenty years, no one on earth
will know or even care.
but that I've helped my little boy
to noble manhood grow,
in twenty years, the whole wide world
may look and see and know.
This is so true and powerful! I hung this framed poem on the wall near the laundry room and kitchen with a framed photo of my little man above it. It serves as a reminder to me everytime I start to feel overwhelmed by neglected housework, that if I spent that time with my little boy instead then it was a day worth spent! He's only little once so I am going to try and spend every waking minute playing/exploring/adventuring/teaching/learning etc. with him that I possibly can!! housework will just have to wait....until naptime or bedtime;)
hope you mommys of little boys out there enjoyed this as much as I do! Thanks grammy!! Hope all have a great weekend!!

Discovery Green
Yesterday Tripp and I traveled downtown to meet my sister and nephews at discovery green. We had planned on taking a zoo trip but after hearing a ton of horror stories at how crowded the zoo is during spring break, we decided to try out discovery green. It was supposed to be nice and warm however it was a bit chilly! It was a really neat place. It had a nice playground, a lake with remote control boats, a little cafe, and some spray areas for kiddos. We decided it would be really fun during the warm summer. We still had fun nonetheless. There was a jazz concert going on as well. We walked around for a while, which tripp loved because we were outside, had lunch at the cafe and let the kids run around and play a bit. Later we decided to venture down a few blocks and found "the shops at Houston Center". I had never heard of this so we went it and it was really neat. It was like a little mall but mostly with lots of food places! It made me decide that maybe I should do a little research and discover all Houston has to offer! I've only lived here my whole life;) here are a few pictures from our fun day!

Lately...
Our little munchkin has been keeping us really busy lately. He just loves to go outside and run around. When we try to bring him in he usually throws a fit! I swear this little boy would live outside if we let him. He has been very active and keeps this mama moving all day! I have even been taking naps when he does, which I usually don't do, but boy have I been worn out! This time change threw us off the first day...tripp woke up at 4:30 am monday morning! However, last night and this morning seem to be back to normal....thank goodness!! We had a low key and relaxing weekend this past weekend, which was much needed! We had lots of family time and had dinner with the schindewolfs and lunch on sunday with my mom, sister, bro-in-law and nephews....fun times! Carl even watched tripp for a few hours sunday so I could do some shopping with my mom. It was a great weekend!
We also got a new (slightly used) car! We traded in our nissan rogue (which we loved) for a bigger SUV with a third row since we were outgrowing our other car already!! It's a Saturn Outlook and it is amazing!! I love having the extra room and it drives really smooth! Tripp and I have been enjoying our everyday errands even more since we get to cruise around in our new wheels;) I'm officially a "soccer mom" minus the minivan;) lol.
I will end this post with some fun pictures of our little turkey! Enjoy!!

1 year old stats
Well we took our little munchkin to the doctor this morning for his 1 year old well check. I of course made it at a time when carl could go with us since he was going to be receiving shots. Tripp was a good sport, running around the office, getting into everything until it came time for the shots! No, he really did good with them, just cried for a second then he was ok. I actually think it hurts me more everytime than it does him:) Good thing brave daddy was there;) After his shots he had to get his finger pricked and they put a band aid on his little thumb finger which proceeded to keep him entertained the whole way home! All in all it was a good visit and we got a clean bill of health which is great! Here are tripp's 1 year stats:
weight: 23lbs 12.5 ounces (64 percentile)
height: 31 inches (84 percentile)
head circumference: 50 cm (99.9 percentile)
As you can see our boy is starting to average out however his head still continues to be on the large side! So funny! We feel very blessed to have a healthy and playful little boy! I will end this post with a few recent pictures of our boy:) Have a Blessed day all!
